MOTA UPDATE FEB 2021

Hi all. First, THANK YOU for following along and being a part of MOTA.  These last 18 months has been an experiment: how can we best connect artists in the beginning stages of their careers and provide them with knowledge and resources to grow and develop.  We believe a pivot is needed and that our efforts need to be focused on one thing before we can branch out and provide the full range of services we one day hope to provide. In the interest of simplification, we will be (temporarily, maybe, not sure yet) disbanding the "Creators", "Mentors", and “Studios” pages and focusing mostly on our blog, "The Rabbit Hole".  Going forward we have two main missions:

  1. Exposure for upcoming artists, publications, brands and any other creative + business endeavor by providing a platform to showcase their work.  We hope to expand the types of business we promote with the intention of creating a directory of young people pursuing their goal of becoming an entrepreneur.  This work will still mostly center around creators, but not exclusive to the arts.

  1. Provide educational resources and artistic opportunities.  We already post a fair amount of how-to's and other useful information, which we will continue to do. In addition to this, we hope to begin to source original content from our network of artists, thinkers, and entrepreneurs.  What could this content be, you might ask...ANYTHING. Pretty much. Some examples include but are not limited to: Prose/poetry, academic papers/articles, opinion pieces, artist profiles, work in progress', art reviews, and any and all new and upcoming projects.  Our main criteria for filtering this content is simple: "Don't be mean, don't lie."  Of course, sometimes it is not as simple as that and we are prepared to have conversations on a case-by-case basis if need be.

Okay time to rap this thing up.  If you're still here, why?? Kidding, thank you so much. I appreciate your time and patience. It's my sincere hope that you are proud to be a part of a community like this, or at least don't mind. Going forward, we are open to ideas and feedback. MOTA is intended to be built by young people (and our older friends + allies), for young people, so the more help the better.

Lastly, if you are interested in contributing in any way please reach out to motacd2020@gmail.com.

Thanks :)
